About us

A craft workshop founded in French Guiana in 1987, Atelier Vert’Tige combines the rigor of the Thiers knife-making tradition with the richness of the Amazon rainforest. At the heart of our workshop, Damascus steel and forged blades meet the precious woods of French Guiana to create unique pieces: folding knives, machetes, flatware, hunting knives. Each creation bears the signature of entirely manual craftsmanship, handed down and refined for nearly four decades.

Damascus folding knife

Unique craftsmanship

A craft signature born in the heart of the Amazon

Our workshop lies in the heart of the French Amazon, a few steps from the forest that inspires every one of our creations. This is where our Damascus steel blade, the house’s historic signature, is born: forging, repeated folding, hardening, polishing — every step is done by hand by our cutler. The characteristic ripples of Damascus reveal the individuality of each piece, the craftsman’s true fingerprints.

The art of the folding knife

Mechanical precision in the service of knife-making tradition

The house’s historic speciality, the folding knife demands remarkable mechanical precision: pivot quality, smooth opening, a strong locking system, perfect blade-handle alignment. Our cutler masters the entire process, from forging the blade to finishing the handle, including the guilloché decoration of the spring, a prestige finishing touch inherited from the great knife makers of Thiers.

French craft excellence

The legacy of a rare craft at the heart of French heritage

Our craftsmanship covers the whole art of knife making, from forging to carving, from folding knife to machete, from wooden case to leather sheath. A symbol of French craft excellence, Atelier Vert’Tige has proudly held the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV, Living Heritage Company) label since 2015. This state award recognizes the uniqueness, authenticity and high quality of our creations.
