Taxes and duties on delivery: what you need to know

French Guiana lies outside the European Union's VAT territory: our prices are shown without VAT. For any delivery outside French Guiana, your country's taxes and the carrier's customs handling fees are paid when the parcel is delivered. They are included neither in the item prices nor in the shipping costs.

  • Mainland France : 20% VAT on the order value, plus the carrier's customs presentation fee. Example: for a €150 knife, expect €30 of VAT and a few euros in fees.
  • French West Indies, Réunion, Mayotte : dock dues (octroi de mer) and local VAT (8.5% in the French West Indies and Réunion), according to each territory's schedule.
  • European Union, Switzerland, United Kingdom : VAT of the destination country; no customs duties for a product made in French Guiana, which is part of the European Union customs territory.
  • Canada : 0% customs duty under the EU-Canada agreement; GST/HST and Canada Post fees on delivery.
  • United States : duties of about 10% and carrier fees on delivery.
  • Brazil : high taxes above 50 dollars (duties and ICMS): write to us before ordering and we will tell you the amount to expect.

We are preparing a "duties and taxes included" option with La Poste for shipments to mainland France and Europe; it will be announced here as soon as it is available.

Knife regulations

  • Knives are sold to adults only.
  • Canada : one-hand-opening knives (flipper, button, wrist-flick opening) are prohibited from import. We only ship two-hand-opening models there; if in doubt about a model, write to us before ordering.
  • United States : automatic knives are prohibited from import; our slip-joint and liner-lock folding knives are allowed.
  • Every shipment comes with an invoice stating the handle's wood species and its origin (French Guiana).

Delivery

If you are out when the carrier calls, a notice lets you arrange a new delivery or collect the parcel at the indicated point. If the parcel arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos via the Contact page: we take it up with the carrier.
